I wanted a back up in case there is ever a problem. It has everything necessary for business including wi-fi.I love this thing. The best by far. This is my second one.
With SD and CF, it has all the possibilities available. When I bought it five years ago (or something like that), I thought it was the best PDA then. at least someone took a breath and actually tought, and found out that puting a plastic case on a PDA worth $600, intended for professional use, wasn't such a great idea (most of the new ones, worth that still have plastic cases).I have nothing but good words for it. And the magnesium case is great. now, I can say it again. It has one of the best screens I've ever seen, with VGA resolution. It has bluetooth and Wi-fi. My only complain here is that from time to time, the Bluetooth refuses to turn on due to a "low memory" warning, that you can get rid of it by sof-reseting the device (or nor overhelming the main memory with too many small applications).
Upgraded to Windows Mob. I put a GPS card in it and and I have Navigation ability with Pocket-Streets. Have had it for over a year now and it is flawless in operation.
I have 1 gig ultrs in it now. and yes holds and plays video and music with mob. Holds a TON of pictures and maps for pocketstreets, which I use often.
This unit is great. TON of memory and takes CF and SD cards. MSplayer 10
Hope they keep making it or a better updated version as time goes on. 5 and it work fine as well.
Running Excel natively is a huge feature for me.e. Buy Microsoft Streets & trips and get this for free. This is my fourth Windows PDA, first 3 were from Compaq.Let me add some beneficial features which have not been mentioned:a. I found that Windows Mobile 5.0 makes wireless internet access easier and faster.b. Pocket Streets & downloadable maps. This device runs.Net compact framework 2.0. I use the onboard excel app constantly and move spreadsheets between it and my PC.
The beautiful screen is very useful for this.g. I read PDF manuals using a pcoket Acrobat reader.
Syncing is very quick over USB 2.0.c. This PDA is a great digital media player.f.
It is one of two Hp iPaqs which will run Windows mobile 5.0. Windows mobile 5.0 includes a media player which sounds better than the previous one.
Map display is more vivid and colorful with this release.Summary:This device has enormous potential which it should, given its high price. Be sure to use Active Sync v 4.2.
I build apps for it using Visual Studio 2003 & 2005.d.
I've heard they're discontinued now. Shame, it was a great PDA. But you can't spend this kind of money for something that won't even make it a year. I've had one for 9 months and it's a great PDA, albeit a bit power hungry for the battery shipped. Love the screen. But it's fragile, and when mine broke HP claimed I'd opened the case voiding the warranty (i hadn't.)., and wanted 270 bucks.I don't know anyone who still has one.
